Dean Isidro Photography
View site

Dean Isidro is a fashion photographer in NYC. I was hired by Greenhood & Co. to do the interactive design, quality control, and content population. An interesting programming feature of this site is that there is no Flash used. A lot of photography sites use Flash because it offers a rich experience for viewing photos and videos.

The issue with Flash, however, is that it is invisible to search engines like Google. A Flash file is a self contained piece of media. This means that when you click around in a Flash web site, the URL is always the same. This is bad for several reasons. First, the more unique pages indexed on a site will improve search results. Secondly, for users, one cannot direct someone to a specific section of the site.

With Dean’s site, we were able to create a site that maintained the simplicity and pop of a Flash site, while giving each photo its own unique URL. This improves the search for the site drastically, and also allows each photo to be recognized as its own page. This is helpful for a photographer or an agency if they want to show someone a specific photo.
